Chapter 2 – Marcus Discovers The Hidden Medical Alteration Document

The sudden explosion of static from the heart monitor cast a harsh white glare across the sterile walls of the Boston hospital room.

Marcus knelt beside the bed, his hand gently resting on his trembling daughter’s shoulder as he scanned the rumpled sheets.

Half-hidden beneath Chloe’s worn brown teddy bear lay a laminated medical chart that did not belong to the pediatric ward.

With shaking fingers, Marcus pulled the document out from under the stuffed animal and tilted it toward the emergency hallway light.

His eyes widened in absolute horror as he read the bold header stamped across the top of the confidential paperwork.

It was a Do Not Resuscitate order, fraudulently authorized and signed just three hours earlier by Eleanor Vance herself.

Attached to the form was a handwritten prescription adjustment detailing a massive, lethal increase in sedatives.

Marcus stood up slowly, the paper crushing in his fist as the full, sickening weight of his mother’s intentions crashed down upon him.

Chapter 3 – Nurse Sarah Reveals The Suspicious Night Shift Logs

Nurse Sarah stepped closer to the bedside, her eyes wide with shock as she recognized the hospital letterhead in Marcus’s hand.

“Mr. Vance, where did you find that form?” Sarah asked, her voice dropping to a harsh, urgent whisper.

“It was tucked under my sick daughter’s pillow, right where my mother shoved her seconds ago,” Marcus answered coldly.

“That document was never approved by Dr. Harrison, and it certainly wasn’t in the official electronic nursing logs,” Sarah gasped.

“Someone with high-level administrative credentials bypassed the hospital’s primary security system to slip this into Chloe’s file,” Marcus stated.

“Your mother sits on the executive board of this hospital; she has universal master clearance for all pediatric wards,” Sarah confessed.

Across the room, Eleanor tried to regain her composure, smoothing down her burgundy silk blouse with trembling, manicured fingers.

“You are listening to hysterical medical staff instead of your own mother, Marcus,” Eleanor snapped, trying to project false authority.

Marcus turned his head slowly, his gaze freezing the older woman in her tracks as the digital static continued to hiss from the dead monitor.
